Frequently Asked Questions

What types of therapy do you offer? (See Therapy Information)

There are many approaches to Counselling and Psychotherapy. My approach is to select wisely from a diverse range of techniques to appropriately meet the special needs of each Client.

My preferred approach is to use

Person-Centred therapy

Reality Therapy/Choice Theory

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

I offer Individual Therapy, Couples Therapy, Family Therapy for a wide variety of needs.  This can be done face-to-face or digitally, e.g. Zoom or Teams as requested.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

Mental Health is spoken of now more than ever.  The problems of everyday life can result in stess, anxiety and depression.  Tensions in relationships, whether work related or family and friend related, can account for unhappiness and sometimes, just not knowing how to deal with circumstances can lead to mental health problems.

Therapy can be beneficial for anyone seeking support in managing personal challenges or improving mental well-being.

Having a non-biased, non-judgemental professional to engage with, is a step towards a quality life.

What should I expect from my first session?

The Assessment:

1. The first session is important for the therapist to understand what has led the Client to come to therapy.

2. To engage in a conversation between Client and therapist regarding client's background history and present circumstances.

3. To find out from Client what they are expecting from therapy.

4. To discuss whether therapy will be appropriate going forward and if so, an agreement to the type of therapy that is likely to be beneficial and the likely duration and regularity.

4. Signing consent to treatment and agreement of GDPR.

5. Answer any questions or concerns the Client may have.
